Fishing lures are a great project to inspect three-dimensions and connect us to the environment. They pose an interesting dilemma, because fish won't bite something that doesn't look familiar. So, you'll need some scientific illustrations or pictures of the types of insects found in the environment. Ask park officials, consult books and the internet for photos and illustrations.
STEP 1 - Choose an insect.
STEP 2 - Plan on how you're going to construct it. Stick with fibres and of course you'll need a hook. I used a dry grape vine that curved to make a hook.
STEP 3 - Construct your fishing lure. I made mine about a foot wide, so it'd have to be a really, really big fish to go after this fly! Choose a size and stick with it.
