Masks are a great way to escape the mundane routine you might have found your life in. Mask allow us to take a different role, a new look at who we are, or who we aren't. Try on a new face to discover things you never knew about yourself and others. That's a metaphor and not a metaphor.
Masks take all kinds of different forms and shapes. Here are a few of my favorite masks. They're simple, but intricate. These are fashioned from cut and dyed leather. Thanks to Tom Banwell for these.
The mask at the top of the page was crafted from silver paint, papier-mâché, and faux crystals. If you'd like to create your own mask begin with a papier-mâché casting or paint straight onto your face.
