No, it's not spectacular. It could be better. You get the basic gist.
STEP 1 - Choose a design. This is a VERY important step. That's why mine turned out so crappy. I didn't decide. I made it up as I went along. I had a sketch, but I didn't refine it. Refining a plan before executing it is utterly important. Even a simple design needs to have a plan. Follow the plan that has been refined, and continue refining as you work.
STEP 2 - Carve out the lid, and remove the seeds. This will allow a place for a candle. When people first began carving pumpkins they used turnips and root vegetables! They had more than seeds to remove in that version!
STEP 3 - Carve out your design. Practice safety; point the knife away from you. They make all kinds of tools nowadays for pumpkins. You just need something sharp that works for you. Experiment, and find the tool that works for you.
STEP 4 - Place a candle in it. Let your pumpkin's soul burn in the midnight autumn air for spirits to delight in.
