Autumn Environmental Work, Lake Shabbona, IL

It's wonderful when you can make work directly from what is available. People haven't always done commerce over obtaining art materials. Historically human beings have always made from their environment and what is available.

I composed this work at Lake Shabbona in the morning, and added to it later in the afternoon. Shabbona is very remote, and I got in tune with the wind on the lake and the yellow sunlight around ten/eleven in the afternoon. I really got in touch with the place, and the spirit of the place. I don't think I spoke a word to another human being all day, it was just me, human being and nature all day. We like to play together that way. She's a wonderful host, and has everything you could ever need. Checkout the work below.
