Þorrablót, pronounced Thor-a-blot is almost here! Thorri's blót; midwinter feast. Are you excited? At Þorrablót all the Icelanders get together and dig up all the leftover parts of the animals to get through the middle of winter. Þorrablót is the mid-winter feast for survivors in the barren and cold. Only Vikings feast on ram's testicles, and sheep's head. So bust out the knives. The eye is the best part!
Þorrablót is for the strong, not the weak. Have a good serving of brennivin (the black death) before you take on hákarl. Do not miss out on gravlax at the beginning of the feast.
If you're interested in attending in Febrúar (around Valentine's day) get in touch with the Icelandic Association of Chicago (IAC) here. Fun fact you don't need to speak Icelandic to become an Icelandic citizen, but you do need to have had residence for seven years.
